# RSS Feed Center

> A city-first directory of RSS feeds in which a crawler continuously health-checks every listing, so the list does not rot. Browsing is free. Currently prelaunch — cities open in batches.

RSS Feed Center indexes RSS feeds by US city and classifies each source by its relationship to that place: based in it, nearby, or covering it. Every listed feed is fetched on a schedule and scored on activity, recording the last post date and posts per week, so feeds that die or move are flagged rather than served as though they still work.

The problem it addresses is link rot in feed directories: most published lists of RSS feeds are compiled once and never re-verified, so a large share of their entries are dead or redirected by the time anyone uses them.

Paid membership adds a query builder across city, category, and cadence; CSV and OPML exports; merged and filtered feeds served from RSS Feed Center endpoints; and alerts when a feed dies, moves, or a new source appears.

- **Nearby** — the publisher is in the surrounding metro area
- **Covering** — the publisher reports on the city without being located there
- **Health check** — a scheduled fetch of a feed that records whether it responded, whether it moved, and when it last published
- **Posts/week** — a rolling measure of publishing cadence used to distinguish active feeds from dormant ones

## Status

Prelaunch as of 2026-08-05. The directory is not yet open for browsing; the site collects waitlist signups and opens cities in batches. Figures shown in the interface are sample data pending launch.
